Vraiment, Vincent

This is Vincent Cassel, as Max in the French movie L'appartement by Gilles Mimouni, 1996. The subtitle displayed above is not his dialogue, but came from the female character in front of him. It's good that the text displayed under his face, so I can capture it and gaze upon this image over and over.  Beautiful, isn't he?

What's written there is an interesting quote concerning the movie's plot and the context of the conversation that occurred.
Trying to extract the real sentence in french, I replay this scene for about thousands of times, mostly in slow motion. I also use google to compare the words I can recognize. Yes, it's so difficult with my very very limited french  vocabulaire (not to mention grammaire) when they speak so quickly, and even slow-audio didn't help much.

After the what feels like the 10th thousands replay, I think this is probably what she said in the original tongue:

"Quand on est vraiment amoureux ce sont par contre du mal ce qu'on fait"

Or maybe I still don't make it right.
After all, I want to proclaim that this guy has a voice as sweet and melodious as nightingale's..... ..though I am not really sure I know how nightingales sound

Which type is your favourite?

Complications of love triangle, love quadruple(?) etc. happen in movies. In this case, there are two main questions that one character might need to ask the other.

1. Who is it that you really love? (is it me?)

2. Did you ever really love me?

By different movies, there are different types on the way those questions were asked and the way they were answered. Here I make some analysis, based on movies I have watched:

  1. The questions were asked, and the characters answered it directly, with some explanations, definitions, and some "inspirational sweet talk" that will definitely capture the other character's heart. Most of it were done in public. (You’ve seen those speeches in too many Hollywood movies.)
  2. The questions were asked and answered with words. Though the conclusions can still be tragic and disturbing. (most Korean dramas.)
  3. The questions never pronounced, written nor it is answered by words. Sometimes the characters don’t get the answers but the viewers got it implicitly, or have to make their own answers or leave it unanswered. (This applies to most Chinese-HK film, while “Don’t Go breaking My Heart” is a maaaajor exclusion).
  4. We don’t even know who needs to ask the questions, what to ask, and who to ask. This is the ultimate complications. (For some movies that need 2nd or 3rd viewing to get us to number 3, or to get us nowhere).

*Sorry for any grammatical mistakes, I use English because to write “pernahkah kamu benar2 mencintai saya?” & “Siapakah yang sebenarnya paling kamu cintai” feels so cheesy for me, but hey! I just did

My "How to Watch a WongKarWai Film"

1. Alone:
Admiring the wonderful cinematography with dynamic cameras and unusual angles, tasting the bold attractive colors that define each movie uniquely with such a clear signature of the filmakers; Enjoying the catchy tunes and songs that will stuck in your head for years; Silently rephrasing the quotes that you realize are not that genuine because they're just things you already know or heard and have been there somewhere in your subconsciousness. You just didn't know how to put them in words while they say it all with such a convincing way that's so damn cool and touching; Recalling any memories of similar psychological experiences, or just wondering what you'd do if one day you'll get through anything close; Getting annoyed by the disturbing parts that you just want to forget and you might need years before gathering strength to watch the movie again.. (and yeah, you want to watch the movie again); Screaming over the gorgeous talented actors and/ or you might need to pinch or squeeze anything or anybody within your reach.

2. With fellow fans & movie appreciator or critics:
To share the experience we get from the movie, seriously discuss every aspects, like that normal "kine klub" thing, or just having that faithful fans endless babble on praising the director, the cinematographer, the composer, the actors, etc.

3. With fans of the actors who actually can't get into the story though enjoying their appearance and performances

4. With movie appreciators who know good movies but don't give a damn about who Takeshi Kaneshiro, Leslie Cheung or the two Tony Leung are

Kesimpulan dari film-film Harry Potter

5. Draco..hmmm terlalu cepat dewasa..

6. Helena Bonham memang berbakat dan berkualitasss

5.Masih berpendapat bahwa Christopher Nolan harusnya ambil bagian nyutradarai, terutama yang Order of Phoenix

6. Voldemort koq kurang serem dan powerful ya.. padal Ralph Fiennes gituh.. bukan cuma karena mukanya yg aneh, dibanding dengan Draculanya Gary Oldman, Voldemort kurang gregetnya sebagai karakter jahattt (plus, Count Dracula mah emang romantis )

7. Secara keseluruhan, pemilihan pemeran sangat cocok dengan karakter di buku, tapi filmnya sering lemah di pemilihan dan pengolahan materi dari bukunya, terasa kurang okey

8. Orang yg dah matipun tetep bertambah tua dalam 7 taun waktu cerita (10 taun syuting???) CGI makin canggih, bisa nampilin perang sihir segitu dahsyatnya, tapi gak bisa bikin tokoh2 hantunya awet muda (padal David Fincher bisa bikin Brad Pitt jadi ABG lagi iyeeeaouh.)

9. Berharap masa ABG galau Snape lebih banyak diungkapkan

10. Pas udah pada bapak-bapak koq gada yang berkumis?

11. Rugi banget nonton film terakhir Harpot telat 15 menit lebih

12. Gak penting nonton 3d mahal2 cuman pusing aja. Lebih rugi lagi kalau telat.

hmmm apa lagi ya? yang pasti, kesimpulan terpenting:

snape....

sNNaaaape.. ..

SNaaaaaaaape..

SNAAAAAAAAApe...

SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAPE!!!!!!!
